“My son, now 11 and in grade 6, was diagnosed with Dyslexia
in the spring of 2023 at the tail end of grade 4. He had struggled with school
his entire life to that point and it had taken a massive toll on his confidence
and self worth. Despite being strong in other areas such as math and science,
his struggle with literacy heavily impacted his school experience as it carries
over into all subjects. He would often be so anxious about school that he would
become physically ill and unable to attend. We were on a downward spiral and it
was affecting his mental health. Once we had his diagnosis, we got to work
researching options. This is where we came across Joelle Brown and her program,
the Dyslexia Learning Difference. He started in May 2023 and proceeded through
the summer prior to grade 5. Even in that short time, we saw improvements. As
he proceeded through grade 5, his progress was exponential. In addition to
working with our son, Joelle helped guide and support me through the process of
advocating for him to receive a comprehensive IPP that was tailored to him. He
is now in grade six and continuing to work his way through the program with
Joelle and his confidence and abilities are growing week by week. We are
grateful for the guidance, support, and regular updates regarding our son’s
progress that Joelle has continued to offer. We highly recommend Joelle and the
Dyslexia Learning Difference as her tutoring truly has made a world of
difference for our son. “

"About 5 yrs ago, we stumbled upon Joelle as a tutor trained in teaching reading and spelling to children with dyslexia. We are grateful that we did. Our son has been tutored by Joelle for almost 5 yrs now. His progress in reading has been outstanding. When he started with Joelle, he was only able to read a few words and didn't know all of his letter sounds. He was halfway through Gr . 3. Our son is now reading and decoding words beyond his grade 8 level. His frustration with school is minimal now. He has more overall confidence in himself. Joelle has patience and reaches our son even when he doesn't want to tutor. The one on one sessions provide a better learning environment and more in-depth than anything the school system could provide. I would highly recommend Joelle to parents who want their dyslexic children to learn to read and spell. It truly makes a difference in the child's entire world." Karen - St Albert
